The Cabin Game Cabin Carnage: Halloween Event Cards
The Halloween update landed on October 24, 2026 and it is not cosmetic. Cabin Carnage adds one new event card, four new progress cards, and a collectible layer that runs across normal games for “several weeks” — the developer’s own words. Two of the new cards change how the final clue can resolve, which is the kind of change that invalidates route advice from September.
Everything below comes from the developer’s patch post. Cards that behave differently in solo and multiplayer are called out, because three of the four do.
The event itself
- The ghastly mutant rat can appear at any point during a game. Catch it and the run rewards you.
- Goodie bags spawn around the cabin during play. Collecting them gives tricks and treats.
- The cabin is redecorated with Halloween props for the duration.
- New cosmetics went into the store at the same time.
The rat is the piece to watch. “Anytime during gameplay” means it is not tied to a specific room or phase, so the practical advice is simply: if something skitters, chase it before you commit to a turn.
The new event card: Stay in the Light
An event card with one objective — survive until the timer runs out, staying in the light. No clue work, no visitor movement, just positioning.
That makes it the cheapest event card in the pool to resolve if your group reads the room early, and the most punishing if someone wanders into the dark. It works the same solo and in multiplayer.
The four new progress cards
| Card | Who gets it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| The Traitor | Multiplayer, not every game | Stops the 3rd and final clue from revealing itself; the holder survives the end |
| The Sacrifice | Multiplayer, every game | Give up your life at the end to spare another player |
| Random Board Effect | Any game | One of four table effects fires |
| Random Turn | Any game | The next turn goes to a random player |
The Traitor is the one that changes your maths
The card only activates if it is still in the holder’s hand at the end and the third clue has not already been revealed. If either condition fails, it plays as an ordinary progress card and nothing happens.
Two consequences:
- You cannot plan on the third clue existing. A Traitor in the wrong hand means the final clue never reveals, and the table has to reason from two.
- Holding it is a life insurance policy — the holder is spared at the end — but only if they keep it and the clue stays hidden. Playing it early wastes both effects.
The Sacrifice, and its one counter
Multiplayer only, but it appears every game, so you will see it. Left in hand at the end, it trades your life for another player’s.
The counter is written into the card: it is defective if another player is holding The Traitor. If you are deciding whether to hold a Sacrifice, the Traitor’s location at the table is now part of the decision.
Random Board Effect: the four outcomes
- Lose 30 minutes
- Gain 30 minutes
- Graveyard wipe
- Move the visitor piece back 30 minutes
Half of these are clock manipulation and half are board state. If your group is racing the clock, this card is a coin flip you should factor into turn order rather than play blind.
Random Turn
The next turn goes to a random player. In a 4-player lobby that is a 1-in-3 chance of disrupting whatever order the table had planned, which matters most in the last few turns before the escape.
Smaller changes worth knowing
- The Feeling Small puppet was updated — relevant if you were working that event before the patch.
- Sparky’s light is less snappy.
- Vomit pill bottles now emit a sound when you are near them, which is a free proximity cue.
- Few bug fixes this time. The developer says the event took priority, and the September bug list still stands as the reference for open issues.
What this means for older advice
- Any guide that assumes three clues always resolve is now conditional. Ask whether a Traitor is in play.
- Card counting changed shape: the pool grew by four progress cards, so the odds of drawing any specific card in a given game dropped.
- Solo play is untouched by two of the four cards — Traitor and Sacrifice never appear without a second player.
FAQ
How long does Cabin Carnage last?
The developer says “several weeks” from October 24, 2026, without a fixed end date. Treat the cosmetics and the rat as limited, and the cards as permanent until a patch says otherwise.
Can I get The Traitor in solo?
No. The card only shows up in multiplayer, and not in every game.
What happens if The Traitor is played before the third clue?
It behaves as a normal progress card and nothing else happens — no clue block, no life spared.
Is The Sacrifice cancelled by The Traitor?
Yes, if another player is holding The Traitor at the end. That is stated on the card itself.
Did the Halloween update fix the disconnect issues?
No. The September 26 patch was the disconnect attempt, and the Halloween post says bug fixes were light because of the event deadline.
